The Surya Nepal Masters 2007 was held from March 28-31, 2007 at the Gokarna Forest Golf Resort & Spa. Surya Nepal under its CSR initiative of “Surya Nepal Khelparyatan” sponsored the Rs 20 lakh prize money event in association with Nepal Tourism Board and Nepal Golf Association. The Surya Nepal Masters, which has been in existence over a decade and a half, saw some of the leading players from India and Malaysia, apart from top 20 Nepali professionals taking part. This year Nepali pro Deepak Thapa Magar claimed the Surya Nepal Masters title. The 39 year old finished with a tournament tally of eight-under 280 to bag the winner's cheque of Rs 3,24,000. Magar's win was the first ever by a Nepalese in the 13-year history of the biggest professional golf tournament in the Himalayan Kingdom. What added to this was that the first three places went to Nepali pro’s inspite of facing a stiff challenge from seasoned Indian and Malayasian pro’s.
